Request a QuoteWhat Is a Matter Authorized Test Lab (ATL)?
Novus Labs is a Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) Authorized Test Lab (ATL) for Matter, so you can complete the Matter certification testing your smart home or IoT device needs before launch. Our Hillsboro, Oregon lab runs the official Matter test cases, and offers expanded interoperability testing to catch real-world failures when you request it. We support manufacturers throughout development and certification, helping identify compliance and interoperability issues early to reduce certification risk and accelerate time to market.
Matter (previously known as Project CHIP) is an industry-standard connectivity protocol designed to enable seamless communication across smart home ecosystems. As connected devices become increasingly complex, comprehensive validation is essential to ensure specification compliance, reliable interoperability, and a consistent user experience across Matter-enabled platforms.

Matter Certification Testing FAQ
Is Novus Labs an authorized Matter test lab?
Yes. Novus Labs is a Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) Authorized Test Lab (ATL) for Matter, authorized to perform the official Matter certification testing a device needs before it can carry the Matter logo.
Can you run Matter pre-certification testing?
Yes. We run pre-certification testing to find and resolve compliance and interoperability issues before formal certification, which lowers the risk of a failed certification run and helps protect your launch schedule.
What Matter devices can you test?
We test all Matter devices, including smart lighting, plugs and switches, sensors, thermostats and HVAC, door locks, appliances, gateways and bridges, and consumer IoT devices, validated across Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings.
What is involved in getting my device certified?
Matter certification is a multi-step process managed by the CSA, and testing is one part of it. In broad strokes you join the CSA and reserve a vendor ID, make sure your underlying transport (such as Wi-Fi or Thread) is already certified, have your product tested at a CSA Authorized Test Lab, then submit your test results and Protocol Implementation Conformance Statement (PICS) with a certification application for the CSA to review, and on approval you receive your certificate and the right to use the Matter logo. Novus Labs is the Authorized Test Lab in that process: we run the official Matter certification testing, the mandatory Base and Core requirements every device must pass (commissioning, security and device attestation, the interaction model, and mandatory clusters) plus the device-specific clusters your product implements, and provide the results and PICS you submit to the CSA. For the full process, see the CSA certification overview.
