Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about our engineering services, certification and compliance testing, technical staffing, and how to work with Novus Labs.
Contact an ExpertWhat does Novus Labs do?
Novus Labs is an engineering and staffing solutions provider based in Hillsboro, Oregon. We design, develop, test, and certify connected products, and we provide technical staffing and government-contracting services. Since 2008, we've helped some of the largest names in technology bring high-quality products to market.
Where is Novus Labs located?
Novus Labs is headquartered at 1385 NE Amberglen Pkwy, Ste 100, Hillsboro, Oregon, in the Portland-area "Silicon Forest" technology corridor, with its labs and testing facilities on-site. We also operate three residential test homes in nearby Beaverton, Oregon neighborhoods for real-world product testing. We serve clients nationwide and worldwide.
Which standards can Novus help certify products for?
Novus supports certification and compliance testing across major connectivity and interface standards, including Matter, USB, SATA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI, and DisplayPort.
What's the difference between pre-compliance and compliance testing?
Pre-compliance testing checks a product against a standard's requirements early, while there's still time to fix issues before formal certification. Catching problems at this stage reduces the risk of a failed official test. Compliance (certification) testing is the formal evaluation that qualifies a product to carry the standard's mark. Novus supports both, so you can resolve issues early and enter certification with confidence.
What engineering services does Novus offer?
Novus covers the full product lifecycle: hardware design, software development, AI integration, and custom test tooling on the design side; and interoperability, wireless, audio, display, sensor, environmental, electrical, and AR/VR testing on the validation side. You can engage us for a single service or an end-to-end program.
What testing facilities does Novus have?
Novus operates dedicated on-site facilities, including RF-shielded chambers, audio and anechoic chambers, residential test homes for real-world smart-home testing, and the world's largest interoperability device library. These facilities let us validate products under both controlled and true-to-life conditions.
Does Novus provide technical staffing, and where?
Yes. Novus provides technical staffing, including direct-hire, contract-to-hire, and embedded engineering teams, placing engineers, technicians, and program managers. We staff roles nationwide, including on-site at client locations across the United States.
